Since 1975 Givens Estates has provided the full continuum of care to seniors as well as a commitment to serving not only its residents but the broader community.  Givens provides innovative programs and services to people from all walks of life and in a mix of settings including residential living, independent and assisted living, HUD, market rate housing, a health center as well as a strong adherence to mission and an entrepreneurial spirit throughout the organization. With an ongoing commitment to wellness--integrating mind, body and spirit—Givens’ goal is to optimize quality of life for residents and staff by encouraging a healthy and balanced lifestyle.   

Brooks-Howell 
Asheville, NC

Brooks-Howell is continuing care retirement community largely made up of deaconesses, home missionaries, missionaries and others who have committed their lives to mission service, as well as a small number of local residents that first opened in 1958. Governed by United Methodist Women of The United Methodist Church, the women of Brooks-Howell continue their commitment to service amidst a community that offers independent living, apartments and a health center. The community also includes an international room, housing artifacts from around the world along with histories of retired residents who took part in those missions.

Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, Rivertown Neighborhood
Detroit, MI

For more than sixty years Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM) has been committed to serving seniors from multiple faiths and varying financial means. With 26 senior living communities across Michigan and a full spectrum of residential options and health care services, PVM is always thinking outside the box. Our visit to PVM will focus on the Rivertown Neighborhood on Detroit’s waterfront. This unique community was formed in a partnership with United Methodist Retirement Communities and includes Rivertown Independent & Assisted Living; Affordable Housing; Rivertown PACE program operated by the Center for Senior Independence (CSI), a joint venture of PVM and the Henry Ford Health System; The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Green Houses® at Rivertown; and Rivertown Life Enrichment Center.  We will also explore the many innovative community, foundation and LeadingAge member partnerships that has allowed PVM to become a leader in aging services.
