Rep. Thompson Visits Windy Hill Village
On May 23, Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) visited LeadingAge member Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg to discuss current federal legislation issues impacting seniors and to participate in a Q&A session with residents.
A press release published in a local newspaper states that Rep. Thompson’s visit was a result of conversations that he and his staff had with Windy Hill Village Executive Director Chad Evans during the 2014 LeadingAge PEAK Leadership Summit held March 17-19 in Washington, DC.
“Congressman Thompson has always supported our efforts to provide the best care and facilities for our residents,” Evans said. “We appreciated him visiting Windy Hill Village and spending time with our residents to answer the numerous questions they had on federal issues involving their Medicare benefits."
The visit was especially meaningful because prior to being elected, Thompson spent 28 years as a therapist, rehabilitation services manager and a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. As a result, he understands firsthand the importance of access to quality healthcare and has become a strong advocate for increased access, affordability, quality of care and patient choice.
“This is a prime example of why it is so important for LeadingAge PA members to visit their representatives during the PEAK conference each year,” LeadingAge PA Senior Vice President and Chief Public Policy Officer Larry Clark said. “Chad had a great discussion with Congressman Thompson in Washington, D.C. and we’re thrilled the congressman accepted his invitation to visit Windy Hill to talk about issues that are so important to its residents."
